Scan a document
-
Open a note, or start a new one.
Shortcut: touch and hold the Remindly icon on your Home Screen and choose Scan Document. It starts a new note and opens the camera.
-
Tap the paperclip (Attach), then Scan Document.
While you're typing, the same choice is under Attach in the toolbar above the keyboard.
-
Hold your iPhone over the page.
The camera finds the edges of the page and captures it. Add as many pages as the document has.
-
Tap Save.
Remindly puts the pages into one PDF, reads their text, and adds the PDF to your note. Long scans can take a few seconds.
The first time, your iPhone asks whether Remindly can use the camera. Allow it, or the scanner can't open.
The PDF shows right in the note: flip through its pages with ‹ and ›, or open it full screen. It's named after the date and time of the scan.
Find it later
Search for a word that's on the page, like a name, an amount or a serial number, and the note with the scan comes up.
- Text is read on your iPhone, when you save the scan.
- Phrases that wrap onto the next line or page still match.
- It works on every device. Scans sync, so one you made on your iPhone is searchable on your iPad and Mac.
- The text is for search only. It isn't shown in the note, and the PDF itself has no selectable text.
Search in the Remindly apps looks inside scans. Search on the web version of Remindly covers titles, notes and tags only.
Photos and PDFs
Everything you attach is searchable the same way, not just scans.
Take Photo
For a whiteboard or a sign. The photo's text is read in the background and is searchable a moment later.
Photo Library
Attach up to 20 photos at once. Their text becomes searchable too.
PDFs
Attach a PDF on any device, Mac included. Remindly uses its text, or reads the first 30 pages if it's a scan.
