Add it to your Lock Screen
It takes about 30 seconds. New Note takes the place of the flashlight or the camera, and you can put either back later.
-
Unlock your iPhone, but stay on the Lock Screen.
Look at your iPhone so Face ID unlocks it, or rest your finger on Touch ID. Don't swipe up.
-
Touch and hold an empty part of the Lock Screen, then tap Customize.
-
If you're asked which screen to change, tap Lock Screen.
Newer versions of iOS go straight to the Lock Screen.
-
Tap the − on the flashlight or the camera.
They're the round buttons in the bottom corners. Removing one leaves that corner empty.
-
Tap the + in the empty corner.
-
Type Remindly in the search field, then tap New Note.
-
Tap Done.
Then tap your Lock Screen to leave the editor.
Want to keep the flashlight and the camera? There are only two corners, so put New Note in Control Center instead.
Use it
1. Press and hold
Press and hold New Note until you feel a tap. A quick touch does nothing, so it won't go off in your pocket.
2. Unlock
Use Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. If Face ID already sees you, this happens on its own.
3. Start typing
Remindly opens to a new note with the cursor in the title. Type the title, then tap below it to write the note.
The note is saved in All Notes, not in a notebook, and syncs to your other devices. If you go back without typing anything, Remindly throws the empty note away, so a stray press doesn't leave blank notes behind.
Control Center and the Action button
The same New Note button works in two more places, and you can use all three at once.
Control Center
On iPhone and iPad. Here a single tap opens the new note.
Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen.
Tap + in the top-left corner, then Add a Control.
Search for Remindly and tap New Note.
Action button
On iPhone 15 Pro and later. Press and hold the button to open a new note.
Open .
Swipe to Controls, then tap Choose a Control.
Search for Remindly and tap New Note.
Want to save a note without opening the app at all? Ask Siri to "Add a note in Remindly", or see Siri, Shortcuts and the Action button.
