Add notes with Siri and Shortcuts

Say "Add a note in Remindly" and Siri saves the note without opening the app. The same actions work in the Shortcuts app on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and on the iPhone's Action button.

  • iOS 18 or macOS 15

Ask Siri

Remindly's phrases work as soon as the app is installed and you're signed in. There's nothing to set up.

  1. Say "Add a note in Remindly".

Start with "Siri" or "Hey Siri", or hold the side button, as you normally would.

  2. When Siri asks "What do you want to note?", say the note.

  3. Siri answers "Saved … to Remindly."

The app doesn't open. The note is in All Notes and syncs to your other devices.

Save a note

  • "Add a note in Remindly"
  • "Add a Remindly note"
  • "Note something in Remindly"

Start writing in the app

  • "New Remindly note"
  • "Start a note in Remindly"
Opens Remindly to a new note.

Find or add to a note

  • "Find notes in Remindly"
  • "Search Remindly"
  • "Append to a note in Remindly"

Siri always asks for the text, so say the phrase first and the note second. Dictated notes are usually one line, which becomes the note's title.

Build Shortcuts

All ten Remindly actions are in the Shortcuts app on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Use one on its own or chain them with other apps.

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and create a new shortcut.

  2. Search the actions for Remindly.

  3. Add an action, fill in its fields, and run the shortcut to try it.

If something's not right

Siri says "Open Remindly and sign in first."
Remindly's actions need you to be signed in on that device. Open Remindly, sign in, and try again.
Siri says "There was nothing to save."
The note was empty. Say the phrase, wait for "What do you want to note?", then say the note.
Can I say the note in the same sentence?
No. Siri asks for the text separately each time.
Does Remindly need Siri permission?
No. The phrases and actions work without any permission prompt.
