A Pocket alternative

Pocket is gone.
Your reading list doesn't have to be.

Pocket shut down in July 2025. Remindly is a notes app that does what you used Pocket for: save an article from your browser or your phone, read it later, and find it again. Bring your Pocket export with its tags and dates. From then on, each save keeps the article's text as a Markdown note, and the apps let you read and search it offline.

Native apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, a web app, and the Web Clipper for Chrome and Firefox.

You save an article today. Where is it in five years?

Pocket

Pocket closed in July 2025 and deleted its saves once its export ended. All that's left is the export file, if you made one.

Remindly

The article's text, as a note in your notebook. Search finds any word in it, and you can export it as a Markdown file whenever you like.

Pocket's shutdown from support.mozilla.org, checked November 2026.

Your Pocket list, imported

Titles, tags and the dates you saved them, from Pocket's export. On every plan.

The article, not just the link

Each new save keeps the page's text as a Markdown note you can read and search.

Plain Markdown

Export every note as a .md file whenever you like. No lock-in.

How it works

From Pocket to Remindly

Your old list comes over once. After that, every save is an ordinary note: it syncs, it searches, and it exports with the rest.

  1. 1

    Bring your Pocket list

In Remindly on the web, open Settings → Import and choose the CSV file from the .zip Pocket's export gave you. Each save becomes a note with its title, link, tags and the date you saved it. Step by step.

  2. 2

    Save the next article

In Chrome or Firefox, click the Remindly Web Clipper or press ⌥⇧R, then pick Article, Selection or Link only. On iPhone, iPad or Mac, share from Safari.

  3. 3

    Read it when you're ready

The apps keep your saves on your device, so you can read and search them offline. Put a reminder on an article to bring it back when you have time.

What you'll miss from Pocket

  • A list of unread saves and an Archive. In Remindly, a save is a note.
  • Highlighting inside a saved article
  • Recommended stories to read next
  • An Android app

FAQ

Questions people ask

How do I import my Pocket export?
On every plan, in Remindly on the web: open Settings → Import and, under Bookmarks, choose the CSV file from the .zip Pocket's export gave you (an HTML export from Pocket works too). Each save becomes a note with its title, link and the date you saved it, and Pocket's tags come with it. They go in a Bookmarks notebook, or one you pick. A link you saved twice becomes one note, and links already in Remindly are skipped. The full guide.
Can I still download my saves from Pocket?
No. Pocket's export closed in 2025, and Mozilla then deleted the accounts and their saves. If you downloaded an export before then, look for Pocket's .zip in your Downloads folder: that's the file to bring.
Does the import bring the articles' text?
No. Pocket's export only lists links, so each imported save is a note with its link, title, tags and date. To keep an article's text, open the link and save it with the Web Clipper or the share sheet. Highlights don't come over either: the import reads only the list of saves.
Is there an Unread list, like Pocket's?
No. A save is a note like any other, with no read or unread state, and your Unread and Archive saves import into the same notebook. To keep a reading list, save articles to a notebook of their own and move each note out when you've read it, or set a reminder on the ones you mean to get to.
What does a save keep?
With Article, the Web Clipper saves the page's main text, cleaned up and converted to Markdown, along with the page's address. Selection saves only what you highlighted, and Link only saves the address. Sharing from Safari saves the article, with anything you highlighted quoted at the top.
Can I read my saves offline?
Yes, in the apps. A save is a note, so the iPhone, iPad and Mac apps keep it on the device with your other notes. You can read and search it without a connection. The web app needs one.
Which browsers does the Web Clipper work in?
Chrome and Firefox (Firefox 140 or later). In Safari, share the page to Remindly on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
Can I keep a copy of everything outside Remindly?
Yes. In the Mac app, File → Export All Notes as Markdown… writes every note as a .md file, one folder per notebook, with attachments alongside. The folder opens in Obsidian or any text editor, and you can export again whenever you like.
